Bartender's/Operator's Licenses

Any person 18 years of age or older who is serving alcoholic beverages in an establishment with a Class A, B, or C license must obtain an operator's license (commonly called a bartender's license). Applications are available in the Clerk's office. The cost of an operator's license is $25 for a one-year license plus $7 for a background check fee for a total of $32. The cost of a provisional license is $15. All background check fees must be paid when the application is submitted. The licensing year is July 1st to June 30th each year.

Qualifications

  • The applicant must be at least 18 by the time of issuance.
  • The applicant may not have been convicted of a felony or be a "habitual law offender". (subject to Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law).
  • Applicants must complete a responsible beverage server training course, unless they are renewing an existing operator's license or have completed the training course within the last two years.
  • Complete an application for License to Serve Fermented Malt Beverages and Intoxicating Liquors and pay the license fees.

Your application will then be submitted to the Police Chief for a complete background check and initial approval/denial. Upon completion of the background check by the Police Department, the application is then submitted to the Village Board for final approval/denial.
